TRAVEL STORIES: 5 REASONS WHY I LOVE VIAMEDE RESORT

This is Riley’s first post!

This is the first installment of Riley’s Reviews. I’ve decided every time the kids ask to return somewhere, they need to write about why they loved it. When the pandemic hit and travel looked unlikely for 2020, we hoped we might be able to book a cottage or Ontario resort. The Viamede Resort was the first place Riley wished to visit!

Here are his five reasons why…

5 Reasons Why I Love The Viamede Resort (by Riley)

Now if you were ever wondering why I love the Viamede Resort here are 5 reasons why:

#1: The Lake

At Viamede Resort, the number one thing that I like is the lake. I love Stoney Lake because it is so nice waking up early and seeing the sun rise over the water. Another reason is because of the water trampoline and the public kayaks and stand up paddle boards. I really like these because the water trampoline is fun to play on with all the challenges (my favourite is the water log!).

I like the public kayaks and paddle boards because it’s fun to go out to Fedorland (ed note: they named the little rock island you can spot from the dock “Fedorland”) to have little island exploration.

For my final reason why I love the lake is because I can hang out in the sun with my fam.

#2: The Farm and Fields

For my second reason why I love Viamede Resort, I chose the farm and fields. I love that I can drive Stampy (ed note: his heavy duty RC truck) around the fields and hang out with all the animals.

I love driving Stampy around the fields because it’s a nice open field and you can make obstacle courses for him to drive through.

And I also chose the farm because it’s fun to look at the animals and to see if any of them look like they’re posing or doing something funny ;).

Another reason is because I love the animals and how they sometimes chase Stampy:).

#3: The Drive

I love the drive to The Viamede because you’re kind of the only car on the road and you’re passing all the nice farmland where you can see animals such as horses and cows. Another reason is because the anticipation I feel as we’re nearing the Viamede Resort sign.

But my favourite part of it all is when you drive into the parking lot and you check in at the front desk.

(ed note: Viamede is a very reasonable drive from Toronto–usually around 2 hours–so that’s probably also why he likes it!)

#4: The Activities

For number four reason why I love Viamede Resort, I picked activities. There is so much to do there! One of my and my Dad’s favourite activities is playing ping pong in the games area. Other activities that I enjoy are playing basketball and tennis in the courtyards.

Another thing that is fun is you can go out tubing while someone pulls you, but this something extra that you need to book.

#5: Viamede Resort’s Employees

The reason I picked this is because the people there are very friendly and they work hard to make sure you have a great stay. They keep things nice with the indoor pool connecting to the outside pool, the dining area, the lake side restaurant with Stoney Lake right beside you, and the rooms.

These are the five reasons why I love the Viamede Resort and wish to go back.
